Blackstone
When I came to Ghana, I was told to be careful not to walk in tall
grass or places with low underbrush. The locals told me about the possibility
of being bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion. It is even risky to wear
open shoes, they said. I became nervous, thinking it was inevitable that I
would be bitten or stung before I left in three months. I was reassured that if
I was poisoned, they had a Blackstone that
would cure me. I didn’t know what this was until I looked it up for myself on

After reading the above training leaflet on how to make a Blackstone, I realized that it is not a stone at all, but rather a piece of bone that has been treated. However, this
was really the only doc**ent that explained this method. I had difficulty
finding this knowledge anywhere else online. This just goes to show you how
easily it is for local, indigenous knowledge like this to get lost if it isn’t

I really wanted to make a Blackstone, but it is a long process for which I don’t really have the time (or many resources) right now, here in Ghana.
So I have something that represents a
Blackstone instead! Okay, it’s not even black, but I found it on the ground
after I had been told about the scorpion stings. It is a beautiful shiny
colour- like a translucent rose quartz like the one here.

The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
