A crash course in changing the world.
This project emphasizes forest management for fuelwood production. This case was in 1998. The forests of Mozambique was isolated from natural resources like soil and water. One of the problems is a lack of organized villages who interact with each other. They wanted to illicit change in three areas-attitude toward outsiders, work with neighbors commercially, and cash producing activities. They produced change by making three people in charge of project management instead of the usual one. Creating more training opportunities, the project makes people discuss issues and improvements. The program focuses on community training to increase the use of technology, develop capacities in the community, and integrate all community members into industry. There was a huge impact in the attitudes between community leaders and the government. The communities changed the most with the involvement of multidisciplinary teams in the identification, formulation, and implementation of community based projects.
