I would like to highlight another group of people trying to solve world problems through collaboration. When I was in middle school, my school participated in the Challenge 20/20 program (
http://www.nais.org/conferences/index.cfm?ItemNumber=147262). In this, we partnered up with a school in the USA, and tried to find a way to solve one of 20 major global problems, based off the book
High Noon: 20 Global Problems, 20 years to solve them by Jean Rischard. My school and its partner tried to look at marintine resources and their depletion, and my class went to clean up a beach of rubbish, and crown-of-thorns. It's a very educational experience, you learn alot about what you're doing, as there is a research component, and a reflection component. It's another way of bringing bright minds together to solve global problems.
