Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

EVOKE others!

Dear fellow Evokees,
I hereby challenge you to evoke others.
Right now, we have about 11,5K agents out there, thats around 2000 more than we did yesterday. That is good, or awesome, to say the least, but I daresay:

We could do so much better.

At this rate, we will have about 50 000 active agents on May 12. I think you will agree with me when I say that in order to maximize our potential, we need more agents. Therefore I aim higher - and with hundreds of million of people on the net, the sky is the limit. The more agents we evoke (especially but not exclusively from Africa, Asia and South America), the more diversified and creative the projects will become. The issue I see is that not a lot of people have actually heard of EVOKE - and we need to change that.

Are you up for the challenge?

If so, please read and adhere to the rules below.

  1. By evoking others, I do not mean spamming forums asking for people to join. Please think carefully about who to ask to make sure they might actually be interested - each agent getting 2 or so people to join and stick is going to be better and more effective in the long run, and the last thing we want to evoke is a reputation as spammers.
  2. Stress the postive! Put emphasis on Evoke's strengths in your invitation.
  3. Ask those that join to also find at least one other possibly interested person - and do not be shy to ask important or well-known thinkers, creators and innovators for help and or mentoring.
  4. Spread the word any other way - how about writing to a newspaper or big news site, chances are, they would feature the community if they just had heard of it.
  5. Keep us posted on your progress by commenting/using the Invite function on the right (Alchemy surely can track that) or make a blog post yourself, tag it CHEVK1 and share feedback.
  6. What are you waiting for? Remember, time is of the essence. We only have until May - so the earlier we start with this... Read the end of the post, and then get right on it!

I have also suggested this to Alchemy as a challenge for the wh*** community to be put on the main blog, but for now, it starts with you.

There will be some form of award, I am not sure how though (because enlargening the network should be enough reward) - however, I have asked Alchemy to award +3 Collaboration for every successful evoke, and I will award points personally (but just one for starters) since I have not heard from Alchemy. I do not know how to track your efforts yet, so just comment and I will trust you on that.

Okay, thats all, on the count of three...

March 10, I found out bout Evoke from @joshnesbit 's Twitter. Evoke game already started a wk.

At that time, 9000 joined already. While that is a good number, I can't believe it is not higher.

I have been promoting it nonstop on email to my friends, on Google Wave, and of course on my Twitter http://twitter.com/googlewaveyour

Since then, I started a list on my Twitter acct

http://twitter.com/googlewaveyour/urgent-evoke-agents

and on TweepML

http://tweepml.org/Urgent-Evoke-Agents/

I tweeted to @mashable / Pete Cashmore to tweet about Evoke. He has a huge 2 Million following on Twitter. He tweeted about Evoke yesterday.

Evoke has gotten good press from lots of media including CNN, New Yorker, .....

______________________________________________

Reasons why it's important to act fast and furious to get more people to sign up as agents!

Why?

1. Over 11,000 joined since March 3. Does not reflect active agents. I'm sure some have stopped playing altogether due to personal reasons or Evoke was not what they expected, or they lost motivation.

2. Time is sensitive. Game already started. Ends in 2 mths. For those starting now, they feel bad about starting late and have to do 3 missions.

3. Vital to get new energy, new insight, new resources of people who want to contribute.

How will we do this?

1. I think Twitter, FB, any Web 2.0 is good to promote it.

http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/urgent-memo-to-all-urgent

2. Media to write more articles to post. Any big social media Twitter accts who have not posted about Evoke. Eg. Penn-Olson

3. Always link to your post, whether on here or out of Evoke the following because the dynamic energy of the 2 vids really provokes one to evoke!

Finally, and this may be the most important of all. I can't explain it. I just know this intuitively.

Admin of Urgent Evoke needs to understand and update ASAP:

Leader Board needs to be all inclusive. All the members.

Not just the top 100.

If it leasts all 11,000 members' total Power points. It would be very motivating for all. I mean, even those at the bottom with say 15 points. They see they post their evidence, stay engaged, interact, their point totals goes up. Those who have 50 points who encourage the ones at 40 points and be inspired by the ones with 75 points!

Right now, it makes it seem like only the leaders exist. Only their Power points matter. It's not reflective of the 11,000 that signed up and getting points.

AND, one thing Urgent Evoke admin team to add to the site is the 2 Videos of Jane and Robert I mentioned above - should be added right on to the front of the site. Right on homepage to inspire those who have not joined yet to join, keep current agents motivated, and get all agents to discuss Jane's video and how it applies to UEvoke.

I really think this would even more dynamic energy into Evoke.

Ok, sorry for long reply. Just that. This has been an issue - promoting Evoke that I see needs to be addressed and fast!

Jan, could you suggested to Alchemy to put on main blog. Apologize once again for huge reply! Yikes. Issue close to my heart! Yeah, Twitter limit of 140 for me is let's say - too short ! lol.

thanks, do you by any chance know who i should contact to ask them to put it up there?

another thing i noticed, i think the 'urgent' in the mails sent from evoke makes webmail services (like yahoo) categorize them as spam (probably because of some nigerian urgent business proposal)

I have been doing exactly this. Social networks and online games require a critical mass of people to be successful. I've been recruiting on Facebook via private messages, using "in-character" messaging to catch people's attention. This is the text I've been using, if anyone wants to cut and paste that is fine with me. Just remember to replace the two instances of the word "(friend)" with your friend's name, and switch my name for yours.

(Friend)!
Sorry for the secrecy protocol, can't be too careful. Let me get to the point here. We need you on EVOKE. It looks like a game, but appearances are deceptive. This is real, and we have a very real and attainable goal: social innovation. This isn't a pie in the sky idea... we're making a difference *right now*. You can also become a certified Social Innovator through the World Bank Institute. If you have a pet social innovation project you can get funding, get noticed, make a difference. If you don't have a project, you will when we're through.

awesome. why i wanted to to it a tad different is because i personally do not know anyone who twitters in germany, and facebook isnt really important over here compared to other networks...
but good to see other people have the same idea.

Hey Jan, I want to set up a similar challenge just for network which meant to work as EVOKE just more organised after EVOKE to get real working agents together in a lasting network. Any chance maybe you can help and add that to you challenge?

Hi ALL,

I want to create a challenge for the Network to market my new platform http://evokeforever.groupsite.com and spread the word to even friends outside current network to check out website, or google or facebook group; Evoke Forever as featured in; http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/evoke-forever-three-platform

To get people dedicated for not just 10weeks but a long time in changing the world. Creating a sustainable developed world for all and sharing knowledge on issues relevant to us all.

Read the blog, share the knowledge, facebook groups/google group for less dedicated and for everyone who does I will grant a energy point of collaboration, just make sure to tag Evokeforever and ping me a message.

Take on the challenge!

Agent Radhika

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
