Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

EVOKE is a network of agents who use social networking, social innovation, and social entrepreneurship to change the world. They challenge the global crises of the day producing creative solutions through civic engagements that are resilient, adaptive, and usher in new ways of thought and practice.

Simple put, EVOKE is a network of changemakers. An EVOKE agent is a person who changes the world each day, just like a teacher. Wherever you find a social ill or a world crisis, you find an EVOKE agent counteracting it. At the same time, many EVOKE agents work at the systemic root of the world's problems and not just on the symptoms. This provides a holistic approach to changing the world--the EVOKE way.

Originally started by Alchemy, from Sierra Leone, the members come from all over the world, both developing, developed, and emerging countries and everything in between those categories. Some are students; some, working; and some retired. We cover all ethnicities and langauges, but we are united by a common purpose--to change the world--and common methods--social innovation and social entrepreneurship.

EVOKE holds up the following core attributes and skills: collaboration, courage, creativity, entrepreneurship, knowledge sharing, local insight, resourcefulness, sparking, sustainability, and vision.
These are skills we must pick up along the way in our journeys. And these are skills that should be represented in any EVOKE agent team for the team to be well-rounded and capable of carrying out their mission. Grow in these attributes.

An EVOKE agent works by a code. This code is set in a group of ethics. They follow.

1) Always involve the community and let them participate in the solution (never force anything on them).

2) Be transparent and honest.

3) Gather a diverse team together to balance your strengths with those of others.

4) Build trust. This is relational work.

5) Tell the truth.

6) Above all, be creative. If it's easy, it would have already been done.

7) This work calls for sacrifice. You must love not the work we do, but the people behind the work, for whom we work.

8) Work in such a way that you build the capacity of the people to adapt and be flexible and stand resilient.

9) Honor each team member and fellow agent and their thoughts and opinions. We build each other up.

10) Treat everyone how you want to be treated.

11) Above all, love humanity.

12) Never work alone.

13) Give praise where praise is due.

The EVOKE network creates spectacle and mystery because it is in the mysterious and the spectacular that our right brains are engaged and we begin to imagine a different world. That's the goal. We want people to imagine what was or has been "impossible" up to this point. Spectacles and mysteries help this. It pushes people to think beyond the normal confines and tiresome conformity in which they live. It pushes them and reminds them that something else is possible. And it increases and exercises the creative power of my fellow EVOKE agents.

Are you ready to be an EVOKE agent?

What attributes of an EVOKE agent do you already have? For which missing attributes are you willing to sacrifice time and effort to attain? Do you have what it takes? Yes. Are you willing to take the challenge? Only you can answer that. . .

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
