Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

It was early in the morning. First day of April and things appeared to promise a very interesting day.

Codename: Hiryu had just finished his breakfast and was looking forward to a very important meeting in the evening. A Citizen X had figured out his identity as an EVOKE agent and had been pestering him day and night for information on the organization and any leads EVOKE may have on current events. Needless to say, Hiryu was more than a little annoyed.

Finally, after much grievance Hiryu gave in. "Fine, I will give you something. It is a doc**ent you will have to read to believe", he told the Citizen X agent just under a week ago on the phone. "I will meet you this coming Wednesday at at abandoned office building. I will mail you the details later".

And today, was that Wednesday. Right after work, Hiryu made his way to the dilapidated offices to meet the Citizen X agent. After making sure he wasn't being followed, he carefully removed the boards and planks blocking one of the windows and went inside. "Floor 3, corporate war room", he whispered to himself as he made his way through the dusty stairs.

"You're late." The Citizen X said as EVOKE Agent Hiryu went inside the demure war room, broken bits of glass making loud cracking noises as he walked in.

"More like you're awfully early. Reckoner, I presume." Hiryu replied as he set a briefcase on the weather-worn oak table.

"Well, what can I say? I was a little excited. It is not everyday I get to uncover an EVOKE agent."

"Indeed. And I assume you want your reward and due credit for it."

Reckoner grinned like a cat that had just cornered a mouse. He knew he had Hiryu where he wanted him. Information in exchange of keeping his EVOKE activities a secret. And now he was about to get a scoop that Citizen X agents can only dream of.

"So, what do you have for me?"

"You guys costed us one of our top agents. You know that, right?" Hiryu said with disdain.

Reckoner simply shrugged. "Eureka chose her own path. Cypher merely gave her a nudge in the right direction."

"And what makes you think yours is the right one?"

"People have a right to information. To know what their governments and institutions conspire against them behind their back! It is only responsible to unmask them! This is about justice for the people!"

Hiryu squinted his eyes as if to process what Reckoner had just said. "You do realize sometimes it is in the best interest of people not to know?"

"I don't think you realize that even if they don't want to know, they need to know."

Hiryu sighed heavily. "Part of what you say is true... but only a small part. And that small part is why I decided to give you this information."

"Alright! Let's see it then!" Reckoner said perking up like a small, excited poodle.

"First, you need to understand how huge this is. It will change everything." Hiryu said as he opened the briefcase to reveal a stack of papers. "I believe you are familiar with the recent crash of the dollar and how it took down many mayor economies with it, since your people have been reporting on it extensively." Reckoner nodded in anticipation. "I believe you are also familiar with the conspiracy theories claiming the United States is poised for an economic takeover of all American economies, from the north all the way to the south."

Reckoner's eyes almost bugged out of their sockets. "You don't mean... you actually have doc**ents to prove it!?"

Hiryu hung his head as if the weight of the wh*** world was upon him as he handed some of the doc**ents to Reckoner. "Take a look at this. It is some excerpts we were handed by one of our contacts. They are a few pages from the D.O.D. describing what they call 'Operation Alexandria'. Basically, it is a plan to gradually annex Canada and Mexico to the United States, with plans of taking over Central and South America within the next 200 years. And their main plan to make an immediate save on U.S. economy while beginning the takeover process at the same time, is implementing a North American Union with Canada and Mexico, with a new coin called 'Amero'. I believe your organization is quite familiar with that concept."

Suddenly Reckoner's face turned white. "Is this legit!?"

"You can check the papers themselves. The doc**entation is not complete, as it tends to be the case with top secret info, but all the basics of the plan are there."

"But... seriously!? A takeover!?" Reckoner gasped, flipping through the doc**ents as if in a daze.

"Look at page 5." Hiryu said as he pointed to a piece of paper amongst the doc**ents. "There already was a secret meeting between all three presidents, and the introduction of the Amero will be made by October next year."

Reckoner started reading furiously, trying to assimilate as much information as possible, gasping and muttering "no way" under his breath a few times, while Hiryu sat at the other end of the table looking at the floor.

"This stuff... this is unbelievable!!!" Reckoner said in a triumphant tone. "You're not just pulling my leg, are you?"

Hiryu gave him a very stern, somber and mostly insulted look. "Do I look like I would joke about something this big?"

"I suppose you wouldn't. I can't see why anyone would. I must get this to our headquarters right away. They're not going to believe it!!"

Hiryu stood up, looking through the broken window. "I hope you know I just betrayed my organization, and that you will hold up your part of the bargain."

"Look, I can see this is being really hard for you, and I'm sorry. But I have a duty towards mine too. We're not the bad guys, Hiryu. I will honor my part of the deal and erase the data I got on you. I will not try to contact you again." Reckoner said after seeing how distraught Hiryu was.

"Just know you made a real difference, today. When we bring this information to the people, the powers that be will not be able to get away with it." Reckoner said in an apologetic tone as he left the building.

Hiryu stood there for a moment, deep in thought. He looked at his cell phone wristwatch and quietly sent a single text message: Alchemy, nanotrackers are in place. XOXO.

A smile crossed Hiryu's face.

"Happy April's Fools, Reckoner."

@ Julio, who cares if you are bad at maths, you can become a Game Designer.

"Designer
Further information: Game design
A game designer is a person who designs gameplay, conceiving and designing the rules and structure of a game.[47][48][49] Development teams usually have a lead designer who coordinates the work of other designers. He is the main visionary of the game.[50] One of the roles of a designer is being a writer, often employed part-time to conceive game's narrative, dialogue, commentary, cutscene narrative, journals, video game packaging content, hint system, etc."

You misunderstood me, friend.

I am a game designer. I have worked extensively with several systems in personal projects, to the point of creating my own version of the rulebooks. I have also done freelance work with Troll Lord Games and helped them develop Castles & Crusades. What I am not, however, is a game developer. In other words, I can think of a billion ideas and create every little detail of a game, but I lack the skill set to program it. :p

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
