A crash course in changing the world.
I researched for two weeks to see if there was a resilience plan for my city, there is none! So i
Iooked for the closest city to us which
is St.Louis, I couldn’t find anything on it. There are no resilience plans in
my area. This situation is dire, don’t you think? To have wh*** cities without
any plan for the future is a failure. The cities in Missouri are not prepared
for what lies ahead, I think something needs to be done about this so I am
going to write a letter to city hall.
“Members of City Hall,
I do not know if you have a resilence plan set up for our city for the coming decades as you have
not made it publically viewable online. How can concerned citizens know what
lies in the future of our town without one to see? A resilience plan is simple,
it covers these topics:
Without a plan the city is lost, as soon as 2020 there will be food shortages. Food shortages so
bad that the countries of the world if they continue at current output will
only have 30% of the required food. The U.S. Military says that there will be
gas shortages as early as 2015, causing food prices to sky-rocket.
The citizens of Winfield are concerned that City Hall is not up to facing such dire issues in the future. But there are simple solutions that will help.
Such as allowing people the recycle, everyone that I have talked too is disappointed that the
recycling bin is gone. Me and my family used to ride our bikes to it to recycle
daily and it is disappointing to see it is no longer there. If it is too much
to see an overflowing bin of garbage in the city where winds blow the trash
sometimes then the solution is simple. Have a recycling program set up where
every household can get recycling picked up at their homes.
We are all pleased for the planting of trees downtown it’s made a world of a difference. But if we
can establish an edible landscape in our city it would help ease the burden of
families in the future. London has already initiated this, they are planting
thousands of fruit trees in their city for the locals and are going to have bee
keeping soon as well. Along with a campaign to urge it’s citizens to plant home
gardens, which is beneficial to all. We need to start getting a plan together
now in order to help soften the impact of what is to come in such a short time.
Thank you for Listening,
Meira D.”
