I had to fight the impulse to make excuses to put off this mission. I'm in the middle of relocating, so I'm not really in the position to start volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the farmers market is out of season, and there's no yard to plant vegetables in.
So I started to think about what I can do NOW. These might be tiny contributions, but they'll add up. I've decided to visit each of these websites once a day until the move. Then, once I'm settled somewhere I can look for a more hands on way to volunteer. For now I'm bookmarking these sites and inviting my FB friends to participate too.
The Hunger Site - Click Daily to Give Free Food.
http://www.thehungersite.com100% of Ad money is donated. I used this site years ago and didn't know it still existed! If I hadn't dropped the ball, who knows how much food I could have helped donate by now.
Plus, they're now on
Facebook,
Myspace, and
Twitter.
And right now they have this offer, "Sign up for The Hunger Site's free reminder service, and to say
thank you, we'll give you a FREE Seek Peace Bracelet! Better still, we'll give
2 cups of food to the hungry, if you are a brand-new registrant!"
