A crash course in changing the world.

CONSTRAINTS - Lady Bountiful is not always rich!

A lot of people think that they are simply too poor to be able to do anything worthwhile and valuable; this feeling is increasing in our economic climate
where so many people are out of work. However, there are still a great many
ways, both big and small, in which poor or unenmployed people can make a real
difference to their communities.

  • Ideas are FREE: You may not be rich enough to put your ideas into production, but some of the best ideas came from bright people and
have made a lot of difference: the sit-up bath for disabled people, more than
one razor blade for a smoother shave (thought up by children), etc
  • Campaigning is Cheap: We do not presently have Hunting with Hounds in this country. Why? Because thousands of people wrote to their MPs,
signed petitions, went on marches, took pictures and spoke up to their friends
about the cruelties of fox hunting. This may not be a favourite cause of yours,
but think of something else: saving bumblebees, biodiversity, recycling, getting
the speed allowed on a road lowered so that it is safe for people to cross,
campaigning for winter fuel allowances for the old and those least able to pay
    their fuel bills.
  • Your Waste is Another Person's Resource: You may think you have nothing, but it is almost certain you own something another person would
love. There are so many ways of distributing these resouces: organise book
swaps, give things to charity shops, join your local Freecycle group, share out
the surplus food you have grown in your garden, pass on your perfectly good
    clothing, etc.
  • Offer Your Time: My church is fundraising for redevelopment. Since I am unemployed, I cannot give a lot of money to this
worthwhile cause, however, I am an excellent knitter, so I knit items for
people, they pay me a small sum of money and I contribute that. So what can you
do: make lemonade, bake cakes, make jam, babysit?

You may be poor, but there are some things we all have. For a start, those of us who live in richer countries have a lot of items we take for granted; many of us have time on our hands (the unemployed, the retired) and we all have our brains (you don't need to be rich to think up good ideas).

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
