I have chosen to shadow Craig Kielburger, the founder of the well known Free The Children Foundation. Ironically, today marks the 16th anniversary of Free The Children. I am following his page on Facebook in order to keep up with his latest whereabouts. Today he posts in his status, "I am honoured to say that, today, April 19, is Free The Children’s 16th birthday! 16 years ago, we founded Free The Children with the dream of helping make a world where all children are free. There is no more powerful an idea than freedom and that idea is at the core of everything we do. Every day, we work to provide young people the freedom to act. Thank you all for your support in this mission." Free the Children raises funds for issues facing children in underdeveloped countries. Craig Kielburger is a huge inspiration worldwide but to me specifically. I think the fact that he began this journey to free children at such a young age (12 years old) makes his work so poignant and inspiring. To think that such a young child can have such a giving heart and so altruistic is just extremely admirable. Here is a link entitled "It Takes a Child", it outlines the origin of Free the Children and the young Craig Kielburger's approach to child labor in underdeveloped countries.

I have participated in Free the Children foundation in the past on several occasions. My school (middle and high) raised funds for Free the Children, I personally attended conferences for Free the Children with my board of education where I am located. So, there are many different ways everyone can get involved with this wonderful organization. I will encourage us all to make a change in world and do everything you can to help the less fortunate. Here is the Free the Children official website, where you can find more information about this great cause.

"We so often feel powerless to do anything about the many problems in the world around us. We are so often left to wonder whether one person can possibly make a difference. Mother Teresa said yes we can. Her life was resounding proof that it is possible."
