My hope for the future is that we move beyond, capturing the state on the ground using open source tools and more towards open source logistics on the ground. ad-hoc resources could be "bid" on in an auction format and distributed based on need. For example medicine, personnel etc. in various locations could be allocated based on spot needs (price proxy) and then allocated.
This would be a market mechanism for good. A lot of optimal routing algorithms use a bid approach to allocated resources.
resources could be captured on the fly and then bid on by field ops and distributed in real time as situations change. The bids would be based on need, likelihood of delivery due to logistics and impact for end resources.
this could help the logistics complexity inherent in fluid crisis environments.
