Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I guess this is the mission that has my name on it. My new purpose in life is to bring sustainable energy to those who have none. I was reviewing the presentations from the last TED conference. I came across a very interesting presentation by Cat Laine. Cat is the Deputy Director for Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group (AIDG) www.aidg.org . The goal of this organization is to help project get off the ground by providing either low interest rate loans, job training and/or technical assistance. On their latest Blog they talked about how they were loaning a company in Haiti $15,000 to rebuild it's business after the earthquake. http://www.aidg.org/component/option,com_jd-wp/Itemid,34/p,1570/

After reading the blog, it was like some one had read my mind. What this company (Emersa) does is produce PV cell in Haiti using both local parts and labor. Nothing they use is imported from outside of Haiti. The story of how this company was founded is just as remarkable. Two gentlemen from Haiti are in school in Canada. Upon graduation they decide that they need to go back to Haiti to start a business that will benefit the people of Haiti. While in Canada they see PV street light and determine that this could work in Haiti. The learn what the can about PV technology. They learn how to manufacture low cost PV cell from Dr. Komp of Skyheat (www.skyheat.org). They then go about training the locals to produce, install, and maintain the PV technology and Emersa is off and running. I realize this is the cliff note version but that is why I have included the web address for you to look it up for your self.

I have been thoroughly inspired by these two organization. I am looking into using this model to try and bring sustainable energy to West Africa and the Native American Reservation. I have contacted Skyheat and I have a schedule of their seminars so I can go and learn about PV cell production and I will be contacting Emersa to see how I can go to Haiti and shadow them to learn the ins and outs of their business model. So in the future if you hear about People Over Profits (POPs) that is my company spreading the gospel of sustainable energy.

I wish you the best of luck with your pursuit of this project Michael. It's a great idea. You might also want to check out the Portable Light Project. I wrote about them in my blog LEARN3.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
