Well, this is an interesting problem, as I would have difficulty following someone who is dead. but it seems to me he has done enough in his life to occupy a lot of my time following his great ideas he is of course Douglas Adams.
since, I know I need to actually do some active following, I think my next choice will be Richard Dawkins.
He may not be very popular with the religious groups but he is an amazing academic and activist. a great mind doing great things. reguardless of Atheism.

awesome. Douglas Adams is so deserving; he died so young and suddenly. the combination of his literary brilliance, thought provoking humor and insight into the human condition is unmatched.
