On March 17, 2020, I sit down to eat dinner prepared from food I have raised on the small farm in Vermont we moved to a couple of years ago. The milk is raw, straight from the cows. The meat is from a pig or cow that we raised ourselves and that was slaughtered and stored in our freezer. Vegetables were canned last summer and frozen so that we could get through the winter as best we can using locally grown vegetables.
While we began to think of doing this way back in 2008, when
our church began to study ethical eating and we read the work of Michael Pollan, it was only after we participated in Evoke that our intuition was affirmed, and we began to imagine ourselves into the future we are living now. As a result of friendships formed during that gaming session and others to follow, we are networked with many agents who work behind the scenes to do the work that needs to be done.
