Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

My humble way of helping efforts for ensured food security in my local community is by supporting a system called "eco-boxes". The box consists of locally and ecologically produced fruits and vegetables that are delivered to your home weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. This system is an extremely good way of supporting local food production and minimizing transport of food, whilst forcing yourself to cook with new and exiting produces (you cannot decide what is in the box, only the general kind of box you want).

By ordering this myself and marketing it at any given opportunity I hope to do at least something small for future food security.

This is a courageous idea Johan and I wish you success if you wish to start building a business on this idea. Definitely +1 for inspiring all of us reading this post to take the leap for entrepreneurship with urgent optimism.

Here at Evoke, I reckon there are quite a few of us including myself who would be keen to learn from you the precise economics of your "Eco Box" idea so that we could take a call on whether this concept could be replicated by substituting the configurations of our own geographies. I have seen a few of us toying with a near similar idea couple of weeks back but nobody has so far come up with precise costing sheet to actually give us clarity and direction in something novel like what you've proposed. I am personally very keen to know what could be your comprehensive nutritional targets (if you have any) for one 'eco-box'.

If you are referring to something similar to your proposition that is currently available, may I request you to put the links to access them online.

A.V.: Thx for the supporting words! We all have our small parts to play in solving the big mess we're in...

Rahul: There are definitely economics in it. I have myself experienced it working in the global south (Arusha, Tanzania), albeit at a rudimentary level, as well as in the global north (Stockholm, Sweden). In Stockholm it is working very well, unfortunately, their homepage (http://ekoladan.se/default.aspx) is entirely in Swedish, but I would strongly recommend emailing info@ekoladan.se to get a more detailed picture of how it works.

Sometimes the humblest things are the best. :)

Sounds like a simple yet effective way to disconnect from unsustainable systems and support a sustainable one.... with tasty side benefits!
