A crash course in changing the world.

Education shouldn't stop during the summer!

I think people should be investing more of their earlier years towards education and not getting summer breaks from school. Schools are buildings that get used 180 Days a year in the USA, but what about the other half of the time? Schools sit on their lots empty, not educating, not producing. This is a huge ordeal! What can children and young adults possibly be doing the other half of the year? What can children do to further their education during the summer that modern day cutbacks and increasing demand for teachers will not allow? Knowledge is power. We are simply denying our future leaders and role models the neccessary education to compete in a fastly growing technological society. It is time to reward excellence. To achieve excellence we must raise standards and organize education. This is the worst time to lower the bar on the standards, because me must strive for something better and not settle with par. It is time to evaluate our way of educating. We must put good teachers in places where they are needed, and reward them for their dedication to the suvival of knowledge. The answer will never be to have less educated people. No exceptions. Theres no reason why children shouldnt be in school all year round, if so please inform me to which reason you believe children should be denied the attention/education.

Interesting thoughts. I think you'd be interested in studies which have shown that children lose a lot of the information they learn during the year while not in school -- mostly in math and science skills/facts. I don't have the info on hand at the moment, but if I find it, I'll post it.
