It's truly unfortunate to see the different ways that males and females are treated, when they have so much in common. The only visible difference is gender but is it fair to make one more susceptible to discrimination only because of their gender? Sure it's nice to see developed countries attempt gender equality but the stats don't lie with most workplaces preferring to hire males rather than females for example. However, the situation is much worse overseas, mostly in third-world countries. Those are the countries in which women do not even have basic human rights, and we have to change that! My goal this week was to spread the word about this issue as much as possible and I feel like I succeeded. I posted status updates all over my Facebook and Twitter about gender equality and I received many responses. By the comments, I could tell that it really opened people's eyes to the world. Although this is a tiny step to solving this global problem I believe that making more people aware of the situation is a great start. :)
