In ten years: trafficking of women and children will have decreased drastically. In order to free everyone caught in trafficking, we must be just as covert and intentional as the traffickers. The past decade has taught us strategies in rescuing victims of sexual and job-related slavery, and so we now know how to effectively operate a mission to free the girls. Although trafficking still exists, and issues still arise concerning safety of those dedicating their lives to rescuing the women, awareness is not an issue. With students learning about the effects of modern day slavery within the classroom, inspiration continues to build on completely eradicating enslaving women in prostitution.
As for as Girl Effect, many cultures now realize the importance a girl has on their overall success. Because a girl is more likely to invest back into her community, wages have increased and acceptance of women gaining secure employment is prevalent in developing countries. And the best news: many villages have risen out of poverty and have become world players concerning innovative change. With the pilot program of EVOKE, many women in developing countries found a platform for their ideas, and in turn, effectively changed their communities.
And locally, my girl I mentor: she's now a leading delegate in international affairs - a well known champion of inner-city youth who are at risk of being overlooked and forgotten. Her knowledge of stigmas and stereotypes fuel her continued research of implementing programs within schools where girls are able to gain a mentor in their selected field. This program, launched nationwide, has born authors, professional dancers, professors and chemists. There's even a young woman, graduated from the program in 2019, who just joined the UN state of affairs.
