After some research I've come to believe that we have to use the power of 70% of our planet: sea water.
With sea water there are several interesting possibilities.
First: Power from currents
As long as the moon and the earth will move around the sun we will have tides and the associated currents. The power of the currents can be transfered into mechanical movements which can then drive dynamos to create energy.

Using special membranes the mixing of salt and sweet water, at the mouth of rivers, can be used to generate as much as 1MW per 1m3 sweetwater. The (dutch) company which is now planning to building a testing facility is called:
RedStack, however their website does not explain it very well, and I've found a nice picture and short explaination over here:

With these technologies, we will have truly sustainable sources, which can operate 24 hours a day, unlike sun and wind.
Let's hope they will develop quickly.
