A crash course in changing the world.
In 2020 peak oil will be a much more evident and investigated problem than it already is today. While alterior energy sources are being explored and utilized now, advancements in these sources are the key to maintaining cheap, reliable, energy. The first and foremost thing I feel scientists of humanity must focus on is steering away from solar panels to capture sunlight energy, Nature has already created a much more powerful solar power facility. The compound chlorophyll is the major player in photosynthesis, the origin of almost all organic energy. We need to stop playing with silly solar panels that merely strip electrons from sunlight, and focus on making a chlorophyll powered solar generator than can power a house for the entire day without the need of intensive maintenance and cleaning. Also combustion engines are going to need to go back to the wood burning pyrolysis mechanisms used in vehicles during WW2. We can run vehicles off of burning wood and wood is a renewable, natural, resource.
So during christmas day in 2020, I will be cooking a turkey powered by my roof-mounted chlorophyll power plant. Then I will hop in my jeep fitted with a wood-burning engine, throw a few logs in the pyrolysis chamber, wait 20 minutes and head to the liquor store to buy some booze.
