There are many great issues and challenges EVOKE can tackle, but there is one that takes importance over all others.
Firstly, it needs to be a bigger and more comprehensive place to exchange ideas, and that means implementing a zero tolerance for censorship with the sole exception of extreme cases, such as blatant racism, constant badgering and/or insulting other members, etc.
Secondly, the Terms of Service and End-User Agreement need to change to prevent the WB/WBI/IftF or any of their affiliates to expropriate the content as they see fit, offering a guarantee that all agents are still the masters of their own ideas.
Thirdly, it needs to use a proprietary platform, developed specifically for EVOKE. Using a 3rd party social networking application may make economic sense, but it makes for very poor EVOKING. A new platform should be custom tailored to bring agents together, including an efficient discussion forum, chat room and content exchange. Not least of all, while the new platform should encourage English in order for everyone to continue exchanging ideas, it should also offer the possibility of EVOKING in all major languages. This not only increases the audience, but also allows for the growth of localized Agent Networks that can cooperate in projects they otherwise could not.
For this purpose, the new platform could include the possibility of creating agent "guilds" or "teams", not not only for easy access to people with certain skills, but also for people within a certain geographic context or a joint project.
I mentioned on one of my older posts
some of my thoughts on how the platform should change and evolve. Of course, other Agents have offered great ideas to this effect.
Fourthly, other experienced and already well established social innovators should be invited to form part of our network. To truly make a change, EVOKE needs to establish itself as the go-to place in the blogosphere for social innovators.
For this purpose, EVOKE should actually seek and negotiate with the creators of derivative websites. Fragmenting the community will only hurt what EVOKE started, but these people have very valid points on why they don't see EVOKE as a good platform to share their ideas. This needs to change, and the change can only come from EVOKE acknowledging it's flaws and inviting the creators of these sister websites to be a part of the next step for season 2.
Fifthly, EVOKE needs much larger attention from investors, foundations, politicians and other special interest groups. Giving a token 1,000 USD prize and a pat on the back in nowhere near enough. We can talk about how to solve the world's problems all day long and until our fingers are reduced to stubs, but without the proper funding and connections, it is all for nothing. EVOKE needs to become a platform where hard cold cash can meet bright and fresh ideas. I have seen so many good ones here, and I just know they will be forgotten by the time Season 2 arrives, and it will all be because of funding.
Until EVOKE can become a true world-changing platform that can connect all the right people together, the causes it champions in the future will be nothing but another bleep in the vastness of the Internet.
And therefore, the first EVOKATION coming out from Season 1 should be that. Make EVOKE into the world changing phenomena described in the weekly comics.
