Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Ok, so I've been inspired by this thread to figure out ways to use Evoke outside of the ways they want us to use it. My first idea was this:

When you've reached the leaderboard, here on Evoke, if you feel like you've "been in the spotlight" long enough, and have a good enough network of friends that you can be heard without being on the leaderboard, stop using that login. Signup with a new login, maybe call it <yourlogin>2, and start using that login. Hit up all your friends to tell them you've switched, and make a post about your migration on your old login.

This will allow the new users to gain some traction faster, and will almost create "graduation cla****", as the people on the leaderboards at the same time will likely have a connected following, while new users will gravitate towards the new leaders at the time.

*UPDATE* If this sort of convention did catch on, you could even have historical statistic aggregator sites, which could take snapshots of the leaderboard over time and dispaly them on their own site. This would add additional context and value to the rankings at Evoke over time, while creating value in the new site......See, by working around the system, we can use the system in our own ventures!

Anyways, how else can we work the system in ways that we aren't suppsed to?

Just had another idea....does Evoke have an API available? If there isn't one published yet, it sure would be fun if some of us could figure out how to "Make our own Evoke API" hehe

* UPDATE *
I'm going to start dedicating a portion of my "Quest" to try to expose blogs that I like by putting a note the URL to the blogs in the Am I a Student Section. I believe this even fits into their model sort of...as I am indeed a student of those blogs ;) Check it out in the Secret Identity part of my profile:

* UPDATE2 *
Here is my first hack/attempt at an open Evoke API
http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/first-evoke-hack-evoke-api

I will create a nice app to make this easier for people to later so check back soon!

Social innovation in action. ^_^ Feel free to unleash your creativity -- any experiments in the spirit of helping more people participate in, and benefit from, this experience are certainly welcome, even if they subvert some expectations. As long as it's in the spirit of EVOKE!

So you're the inventor of the game?! Thanks for checking out my post, that's awesome! I saw you on Ted.com! I liked the 2nd half of your talk ;) I love what you're doing here, and appreciate you providing this outlet. It's an amazing user base you've got here!

True. Would frequent ladder resets help? Just the ladder, not your personal points... Or did I get it wrong?

I suppose that might gain us the same sort of result, but that would require a change from the site. With my suggestion, we don't need anyone to change anything, we can just decide to use it this way and create a new convention that some will follow and others won't....in fact if the other thread was any indication, this will even anger some people who believe everything should be done in a certain framework. Does that sounds like a movie to anyone else? Neo, are you out there? Hehehehe

Yeah but I have my one account here and would simply like to stick to it and not re-signup every once in a while.... Can't we build a new system within the system? Why working around? There are no bad intentions I guess... Actually this IS the place to create bottom-up change, right? Neo, what's your take on this? :D

I plan to ask if I can give my points away during Evocation week! I'm not a very good gamer, just love Evoking with so many brilliant young people!

Oh Felix, I'm sorry, I was saying only people that want to create a new login would do so. Typically, you would only do this after you have been on the leaderboard for a while. If you aren't on the leaderboard, you should enjoy the adventure of getting there. It's once you're there that maybe you'll be ready to help someone else feel that same joy you felt getting there!

Got ya. Makes sense. Great thought. Indeed. ;)

Don't think this here is about good gaming... There are no "better" players I think. Just more active and frequent ones..

I agree, if anything it measures your social networking or marketing skills. That is still an attribute of sorts.....hmmm......that gives me an idea...what if points were just an attribute of Socializing, and there were other leaderboards for Innovation, and other categories. I think this might be a nice solution that could be implemented by the site to help alleviate some of the compaints. I think everyone would agree that the points are a pretty accurate indicator of that person's ability to influence the network. Maybe they could call it the Influence Leaderboard.

It would be awesome if we could contribute our own social currency to other's projects.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
