The biggest food change near me is the opening of a farm by a friend. She quit her job as the head of the educational department at a museum and moved away, with her long time boy friend into a trailer on a 2 acre plot of land. There they started an organic farm. A lot of people in the U.S.A do not know how to farm or even have the space to. At this farm my friend created, people buy a small part of the land, choose what types of fruit and vegetables they want grown and pay for the seeds and labor. Then when everything is grown they go and pick it up and start all over again for next year. I think that this is a great idea for city areas that are in great need of food. It does not cost a lot and people are getting jobs out of this. Yes there is the possibility that the crops may not grow one year, but it can really help with food problems.
