Paul Nolak's #3:Learn everything there is to know about the specific
context
The simple truth is that a solution good for one situation may be
absolutely useless in another. Take the current energy issues in the
automobile industry. We have multiple energy solutions being worked on-
hybrids are one solution, electric another, various bio-diesels and
ethanol, and likely a few completely marginalized or unheard of. Hybrids
allow for a reduction of gas using electricity, but in some northern
climes where snow and other impediments take a lot of 'oomph' to get
through, the less powerful engine involved may not cut it, where it's
ideal for city driving in less hostile environmental obstacles. In the
same way, famine in one area may be cause due to poor soil while another
may be blighted by severe drought- so while general, broad base
solutions can create the most impact, it may take a keen eye to fine
tune them to a region to ensure their success and maximum utility.
