When I searched for water projects I found a very interesting organization which is called FogQuest
www.fogquest.org. It is a Canadian organization which is not government controlled. It is specialized in collecting water from fog. Therefore they built fog collectors in regions with suitable meteorological conditions, e.g. Chile, Guatemala and Ethiopia. These collectors consist of a big plastic mesh, where fog condenses and the obtained water rinses through a drain into a cistern and from there to the water intakes.
With a mash area of 1 m2 can be collected up to 28 litre water a day. A advantage of the fog collectors is that the people get clean water from the fog. They no longer have to drink water from contaminated lakes or seas. This helps to control diseases. Another advantage is that the water can be collected at water intakes. So the women and girls in poor countries don’t have to walk many hours to reach a lake or sea to fetch water. Altogether this project is a simple and creative idea for solving the water crisis.
