Food security is a problem along with all the other securities including energy security. It is likely one of the most important as without food and access to clean water, all other security becomes less important.
In the area I live, mainland Southeast Asia is a net food exporter. However that status should not be taken for granted. Because of poverty, countries such as Cambodia are making deals with rich countries to sell large areas of land to give them energy security (depriving it from local farmers). A recent Oxford report
highlights the problem for this region, and especially plans to dam the Mekong
are a big threat.
