Food security and food security problem around me

Food security, "When all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food to aintain a healthy and active life".

Food security is built on three principles. First, food availability, where sufficient quantities of food available on a consisten basis. Second, food access, having sufficient resources to obtain appropriate foods for a nutritious diet. Last, food use, appropriate use based on knowledge of basic nutrition and care, as well as adequate water and sanitation.

So, is Indonesia suffering this issue? where they can't access to food? well, yes, but not all parts of Indonesia are having food security problem where they can't access to food. However, it is still a big problem, it still takes a big part of it.

"Approximately 25 million people are food insecure, particularly households engaged in food and cash crop subsistence farming and agricultural wage labor. The majority of them live in the east of the country, where 40 per cent of the population live below the national poverty line, above the 13  per cent national average. Despite stable paddy production, the price of rice is one of the highest in the South East Asia region, with a continued upward trend. In July 2012, rice cost 12 per cent more than the same time last year, while real wages for agricultural labor decreased by two per cent.

Although the Ministry of Agriculture is optimistic and estimates rice production in 2012 to increase by 4.31% from last year, rainfall deficits are reported. Due to the drought situation in the US, the price of imported soybean increased nearly twofold in July. Soybean products are important commodity especially for low income people. Indonesia consumes 2.2 million tons of soybeans per year while the country produces 700,000 tons. As a result, the Government of Indonesia has decided to suspent the five per cent of import tax on soybeans." (World Food Programme)

October 2012

I don't really see food security problem near by me from people that I know. However, I do know that there are problems in some parts of Indonesia where I don't really know that place, maybe it can be near by me or places in Jakarta.

Indonesia government is setting up a plan to set the country a goal of being self-sufficient in rice, beef, sugar, corn, and soybeans by 2014 and it is 2013 now. Here's more information about it. Eating healthy and safe food is important in order to keep our health in best condition and not getting sick.

HoJun, I want to see blog posts that are based more on your own thinking and not quotes from other sources. A few is ok but this is a bit much.

By investigating a food security problem in Indonesia it made me aware that by the time we reach some point of the time this issue will be more aware to people and start to affect people who live here, people surrounded me. Not my neighbors, people who are living in a less wealthy area than us. They will be affected from the problem faster than us then it can affect us indirectly or directly as well. If it goes to real extreme where they can't afford even a meal for a day they would start to go crazy and do whatever things to get food from us.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
