A crash course in changing the world.

Food Security in Mexico 1: It's not just about eating... it's about eating healthy!

Mexico is a privileged country. A huge part of it have such a great weather that you could plant food all the year around. Only a few areas in Mexico get snow and most of them are in high mountain areas where few people live. Yet we have a great monster messing with our food culture: Big companies. And their most feared weapons: junk food and transgenics are really messing with us =/

Mexico is now the 2nd fattest nation around, and I heard we're ranked 1 in kids obesity. The problem is so bad that some people say the subway is more crowed because people is bigger! Yet the problem goes way beyond that. Fat-related diseases are becoming a problem and our health system is definitely not strong enough to deal with them without running out of fund... fast. Diabetes is becoming a big issue here. I find no better way to put this as the Mexican dictator Porfirio Diaz put it around 100 years ago: "Poor Mexico! So far away from god and so close to the United States" We have had an invasion of junk food, mostly American. Actually I've heard that Mexico is the biggest per capita consumer of Coca Cola!!! those are a lot of sugars. The sad thing is that we have such a great weather and farming here is way easier than in many other northern countries... *sniff*
The info for this came from:
http://legacy.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080324/news_1n24obese.... - some more info here
http://es.wikiquote.org/wiki/Estados_Unidos - Porfirio Diaz' quote (I knew the quote but I didn´t know it was from Porfirio Diaz)
Urban gossip for the 1st ranked in children obesity and in per capita CocaCola consumption

The second weapon: transgenics will come in another post, wait for it!

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
