Thanks a million for this assingment. In Cameroon yams are quite expensive compared to bananas, cocoa ,plantains. This cause several people to seldomly eat yams due to its cost. For this reason i have a garden in my father's compound where i cultivate yams on a long term basis. How do i generate fertilizer? Wastes like peelings of plantains, bananas, green vegetables is stored somewhere for say two months. After these periods this wastes is use as manure for my yam cultivation.Normally we use hollow bags.Firstly,we put our manure in this hollow bags, and then we add ground into this hollow bag upto 3/4 full.We then place our yam seedlings, add some manure, and next cover with ground to the full.We use hollow bags to facilitate the ability of the yam to trace its path int the soil.I have been doing this for over two years now and the productivity is qualitative and quantitative. This is the third year i'm cultivating yams and in 9 months to come i would harvest.I strictly recommend others to attempt this on a large scale for it pays.
