Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

As many of you are aware Amos Meeks and others have started a Makers Guild. I joined the guild a bit over a week ago. It has been decided that we are going to create a “Tool Box” page. This page will contain links for already existing technology. I am going to try to do a short “From the Tool Box” article each week which will be appropriate for each week’s topic. (Now watch TPB make world conflict next weeks topic. ;) )

Because this week we are dealing with the topic of clean water the topic of FtTB will be on:

BioSand Filters.

BSF’s are easily made highly efficient purifiers/ filters. There is a difference between a Purifier and a Filter. A filter screens out critters such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia lamblia (North America) and the all time favorite E. coli. Filters will not eliminate viruses though. Generally a chemical is used to eliminate any kind of viral threat. In extreme conditions chemicals such as bleach or iodine may be in short supply. Enter the BSF. In a nutshell, the filter is filled with sand. As the water is poured over the top of the sand it pa**** an active biological layer (Schmutzdecke) that begins to feed on some of the micro organisms. As the water continues toward the bottom of the filter, much of the viruses attach or bind with the grains of sand where they are attacked by naturally occurring anti-viral compounds created by the Schmutzdecke. After the water pa**** through the bottom of the filter, it flows upward through a pipe and is taken off by the end user.

The BSF is a simple to build, simple to use method of efficiently making water potable.

And the heavy metals for unluckies living near gas stations, industries, etc? Any good news for filtration there? Point love anyway. +1 @amos==will look for you too.

The one thing I did learn is that by throwing in nails, naturaly occuring arsenic will bond to the iron oxide. The rest of the metalic content is problematical. I am still looking into this because I am now finding out a lot of people in Detroit are having their water shut off. Many might be forced to use the river which is full of yucky stuff. Thanks for stopping by!

Detroit is having a bad time. There certainly is a lot to be accomplished, all around the world. Thank you back..

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
