A crash course in changing the world.

Thanks for getting this rolling Amanda.

I have to be honest here, this was an easy choice for me, but I am biased. I have spent the last six years studying art and, more than likely, will study it my entire life. I am in love with visual culture and I think it loves me back, in fact, I think it loves all of you just as much as me.

What is it about creativity? Why is it my favorite? Because of what creativity tells us about the person and society that employs it. Creativity's voice varies from society to society. It can elucidate historical fact and opinion, it can convey pain, It can convey the philosophical underpinnings of the era, It can show us the horrors of poverty, It can lead to wondrous technological advances, and it can change the way we think and act.

Creativity evolves or transforms to suit the needs of each society, it informs society just as much as society informs it. I believe that creativity is an indispensible element in what we are doing here. Without creativity we will accomplish nothing.

I love that creativity loves you right back, Sean :) What a great way of looking at it. And you're right - the creativity of other cultures is an amazing melting pot of influences both known and subconscious - from the anime of Japan to the sand art of Australian natives and everything in between. You could say, that understanding the arts of a culture is one of the most complete ways of knowing it!

I like how you've captured the power of creativity in this blog! I definitely agree with you that creativity evolves to suit a need.

Great post. You love creativity as much as I love spark! You have made me think actually - art can be accessed by all and you don't have to hold attention for the message to get across so it's immediate power is palpable. Nice post..+Creativity

Thank you. I do love art and other various creative approaches. I definitely believe that art 'should be' accessible by all, but do not believe that it is. We have critics, historians, and connoisseurs to blame. When I write about imagery I make the a conscious effort to make my words and ideas easily accessible while still utilizing a lexicon that can adequately describe the concepts that I am concerned with. It is tough. But it needs to more accessible.
