Global Virtual Knowledge Centre for Women's Rights

Story from WomanWatch Feed:

United Nations, New York — UNIFEM has launched a Global Virtual Knowledge Centre to End Violence against Women and Girls. The one-stop centre will support practitioners around the world in effective design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes. The web-based site brings together lessons learned to date and recommended practices gleaned from initiatives on ending violence against women and girls, whether originating from the women's movement, civil society organizations, governments, the United Nations system or other actors.

The Global Virtual Knowledge Centre will be presented today at an event held on the occasion of the Commission on the Status of Women and co-hosted by UNIFEM and the Government of Spain.

Efforts by the international community to end violence against women and girls have gained an unprecedented momentum. Decades of tireless work by the women's movement and human rights activists have placed the issue high on global, regional and national agendas. At the international level, the UN Secretary-General's campaign, UNiTE to End Violence against Women, calls on governments, civil society, the private sector and the entire UN system to join forces in addressing this global pandemic.

The major challenge worldwide is to translate policy commitments into practice, but few policy-makers and practitioners have ready access to the global evidence base of effective measures to end violence against women and girls.

In response, UNIFEM has developed the Global Virtual Knowledge Centre that brings together existing and c**ulative experience, know-how and resources from around the world. Access to this knowledge base can improve the quality of interventions, optimize results and enhance the cost-effectiveness of investments.

Currently, the knowledge centre features three modules, developed by recognized experts in the respective areas of specialization and vetted by networks of practitioners. Several additional modules are in development. The centralized database is fully searchable and available in English, French and Spanish.

Updated information on this story:

http://www.endvawnow.org/ This is the website created as apart of the Virtual Knowledge Centre (VKC).

This knowledge center is a collaboration of knowledge concerning woman violence. The best part of this site that I found was the calendar of events. http://www.endvawnow.org/?events This calendar will help do two things that are really needed to help create awareness. One, It will allow users to locate events to attend much more easily than before. Second, it will allow others to access this tool to bring supporters to events. Those creating events now have a great advertising avenue to gain local and national support for an event.

The leading initiatives page http://www.endvawnow.org/?internalpage=11 is a great resource to help track down top stories and happening concerning women's rights. With links to new websites and up-to-date information on the top stories, it is easily the ultimate source on woman's rights.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
