Gratitude Gardens or Corporate Food Coup D'Etat in the USA???

It is very interesting that we are developing food security
solutions
and proposing Gratitude Gardens,
and nobody mentions this:

S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010, may be the most dangerous bill in the history of the US. It is to our food what the bailout was to
our economy, only we can live without money.

"If accepted [S 510] would preclude the public's right to grow,
own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that
nature makes
. It will become the most offensive authority
against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural
products of one's choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to
natural law or, if you like, the will of God." ~Dr. Shiv Chopra, Canada
Health whistleblower

It is similar to what India faced with imposition of the salt tax
during British rule, only S 510 extends control over all
food in the US, violating the fundamental human right to food.

Monsanto says it has no interest in the bill and would not benefit from
it, but Monsanto's Michael Taylor who gave us rBGH and unregulated
genetically modified (GM) organisms, appears to have designed
it and is waiting as an appointed Food Czar to the FDA (a position
unapproved by Congress) to administer the agency it would create -- without
judicial review
-- if it pa****. S 510 would give Monsanto
unlimited power over all US seed, food supplements, food and farming.

History In the 1990s, Bill Clinton introduced HACCP (Hazardous Analysis
Critical Control Points) purportedly to deal with contamination in the
meat industry. Clinton's HACCP delighted the offending corporate
(World Trade Organization "WTO") meat packers since it allowed them to
inspect themselves, eliminated thousands of local food processors (with
no history of contamination), and centralized meat into their
control. Monsanto
promoted HACCP
.

In 2008, Hillary Clinton, urged a powerful centralized food safety
agency as part of her campaign for president. Her advisor was Mark
Penn
, CEO of Burson Marsteller*, a giant PR firm representing
Monsanto
. Clinton lost, but Clinton friends such as Rosa DeLauro,
whose husband's firm lists Monsanto
as a progressive client and globalization as an area of
expertise, introduced early versions of S 510
S 510 fails on moral, social, economic, political, constitutional, and human
survival grounds.

1. It puts all US food and all US farms under Homeland Security and
the Department of Defense, in the event of contamination or an
ill-defined emergency
. It resembles the Kissinger
Plan
.

2. It would end US sovereignty over its own
food supply
by insisting on compliance
with the WTO
, thus threatening national security
. It
would end the Uruguay Round Agreement Act of 1994, which put US
sovereignty and US law under perfect protection.
Instead, S 510 says:

COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS.

Nothing in this Act (or an amendment made by this Act) shall be
construed in a manner inconsistent with the agreement establishing the
World Trade Organization or any other treaty or international agreement
to which the United States is a party.

3. It would allow the government, under Maritime Law, to
define the introduction of any food into commerce (even direct sales
between individuals) as smuggling into "the United States."

Since under that law, the US is a corporate entity

and not a location, "entry of food into the US" covers food produced anywhere
within the land mass of this country and "entering into" it by virtue
of being produced.

I´M SO MAD AT THIS!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! IF WE LET THIS PASS IN THE U.S. IT WILL BE THE SAME IN THE REST OF THE WORLD!!! Do you have more links about this? I hope it´s just a web rumor, but if it´s real then we should ALL fight this!!! All evoke, everyone we all know. I´m not exaggerating- Our life depends on this.

Laws are mostly irrelevant. Public and personal opinions are far more important, because when it comes down to it, all decisions are made by humans, not laws. So, rather than wasting time worrying about what some complicated paperwork says that almost no one reads, we can spend our energy giving people great reasons to respect diversity, value independent resource creators, and pay attention to what factors are motivating those who are offering us things and asking for things from us.

@turil - good point. However, law is an important mechanism for macro human action. so a) we don't want that usurped from it's position of leverage by ignoring it and b) the ability of law to make a difference depends on systematic obedience; when we accept laws we intend to disobey, we weaken the ability of laws we do like to help us.

Thanks for bringing this into attention. I have a friend in the states and I will try contact him.

i agree jeremy
if a law like that is passed a lot of people will want to obey becasue they respect the law and will be confused and miserable
better to fight it before it's a law
than ignore later or fight later
there's another issue here
lot of people look up to the usa
and if something like this is braoched providing it's not a rumour and mayhap passed then a fight over a similar thing will come across the entire world
it's important to fight this now itself
as a very idea itself , nip it in the bud, kill it off as a seed by large scale organized and disorganized active resistance
Comment by A.V.Koshy on April 30, 2010 at 4:37pm
then we need to bring all pressure to bear against them pronto
Comment by Turil Cronburg on April 30, 2010 at 4:49pm
Did any of you actually read the proposed law? If you really are concerned, read it, and reserve your emotional response until then.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
