Hack the attention hierarchy!
People need to hack the attention hierarchy.
Question
* Who deserves attention.
* What deserves attention.
Answer based on following parameters:
* Fame of person writing it [how well known is the person? how well known do we assume the person will be?]
* Language it is written in [a poorly expressed great idea will drown while an excellently written mediocre idea will win]
* How recent is it? [present is golden, 1 day ago is beginning to look old, 3 months ago is ancient history, if something online is 15 years old it belongs to a museum]
* How emotionally stirring is it [a controversial blog post gets a lot of attention while a blog post writing things which all of us agree on receives less attention, and certainly no Discussion]
If you connect the concept of attention hierarchy with that of symbolic violence then we have found a big part of why innovation is rarely found in sites such as this.
So the question then is: How could we improve this?
