Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Man, is there anything more delicious then a peice of fresh fruit or a tasy dish of vegetables with rice & potatoes? Over the past year, I have been working hard to eat right & the right food to eat turns out tasting better then the wrong food. I really enjoy taking fruit with me, especially oranges, on the go, slicing it up & sharing a piece with whoever is around. Many people confide its been a while since they tasted fruit & had forgotten how good it is!

This year, I have helped start three gardens. I'm sure whatever work I put in will be worth it ten times more with some fresh fruit, herbs & veggies I had a personal hand in. I also like to cook & share my food with others. After cutting red meat out of my diet & severely limiting all other meat, I don't even crave it anymore!

So that's my contribution so far: gardens, turning almost vegetarian (I don't refuse non-red meat when cooked for me...yet) sharing fruit & good old home cooked food. As sustainability officer for my Americorps program, I have been trying to think creatively about out-of-the-box solutions to helping others eat better. If anyone has any ideas about community advocating, sharing food, etc. please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

I really think that you're doing a great thing sharing fruit with people. It's true, people don't eat that often anymore, and then forget about how delicious it is. Home-cooking is fantastic as well.

Zack- this is great stuff. Very proactive. I would like to know how you've been able to share your new lifestyle and the idea of eating better to people around you. What do you feel it takes to inspire people? I'm asking because I've changed my wh*** lifestyle but I can't seem to find the courage to approach people around me and inspire them to live better. Got any pointers?

Also, what kind of gardens are you working in and how have you seen people's live changed by them in your area?

I hope this isn't asking too much of you ^_^ don't feel obligated to answer it all.

Well Megan, its no trouble at all. Me and most of my friends serve with Americorps. I moved down to Little Rock from Maryland so I haven't expanded too much outside this circle yet, unfortunately, though I'm trying.

Because of our small stipend I get food stamps. This makes it so much eas8error to share food & eat healthy. I encourage others to eat well & stay away. From fast food & frozen food. Giving them fruit prices & home cooked meals shows them what their missing out on. I also advocate less or no meat & not buying coke ( human rights)

I guess its easy for me to do this cause I don't mind sharing me convictions with people. I g3t some negative feedback but it doesn't bother me. The gardens I. Have helped with will enable me to show others even more good food. The people whose gardens they are convieniently share my mindset for the most part.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
