Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I select Jane McGonigal for my hero.

I almost didn't, because although she is very hero-worthy, she's also involved with creating EVOKE, and I thought that might be a little weird. But then I realized that that's another great reason to pick her as a hero, since EVOKE is exactly the kind of thing I want to be creating.

Jane gave a talk at SXSW 2008. I was there. I saw her do the Soulja boy dance after giving a kick-ass talk on the importance of play, and I thought, here is someone who knows how to teach and who knows how to play and who knows that teaching and play and learning are all bound up together and are at the essence of being human.

I want to change the world with games. I want to help make games that engage people and that let learning happen. More than that, I want to make games that make it easier to learn. Paper and pencil, dice, pixels, whatever -- I'll use whatever tools I can, whatever tools players have access to. I want to deeply change education, from the youngest ages all the way up to lifelong learners, through games.

I'm blown away by EVOKE already. It's true that we're changing the world while we play, because it's about changing ourselves. Because of this mission I'm going to contact Jane and tell her she's my hero. Then I'm going to award myself +1 courage because it's scary to reach out to famous, busy people!

I'm also following her on Twitter and reading her blog, and I'm going to see if I can find and friend her on Facebook.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
