A crash course in changing the world.
Heroes.
I know that the object of this mission is to find a person of import, one that is involved with changing the world, but I have many that I follow already.
In my previous post, I mentioned Vinay Gupta. As a person on the web he is best described as ubiquitous. He can be found at Hexayurt, or at Global Swadeshi or many other places. His six ways to die concept really puts the present world food crisis in perspective.
Amy Smith has been called the MacGyver of MIT. She is best known for developing a method of taking agricultural waste and turning it into high grade charcoal. She is a bit harder to follow I usually check news feeds for her name.
Starhawk is a person well known in the pagan communities for being a peace advocate and permaculturalist. I have been following her for years. Her site is here.
Amanda Brooks. Amanda is a lecturer, Sex Workers Rights activist/advocate and escort. I am not going to give a link here because I know a lot of people are reading this at work and her site could be considered NSFW. I have personally met Amanda when she was co-presenting an academic paper on labor law violations in the Nevada Brothel System at the University of Toledo in October of 2009. She is very serious about getting some of the laws changed in this country.
Now for the new person. I have been independently working on the Hexayurt project. One of the problems is that the structure needs a foundation in order to resist storm winds. Scientists have been working out a method of creating sandstone-on-demand. I ran an internet search and located one of the leading experts in the field. His name is Leon van Paassen and he is located at Delft University. He has a facebook and I have emailed him asking if poured sandstone would be practical for a foundation. I am now awaiting a reply.
