It's can be hard to define a hero. Do they see themselves as heroes? Do we classify the ideas of fictional characters Sherlock Holmes and Bruce Wayne as real heroes or is it what we see in them as worthy of hero status. Could the actions of Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa or the unknown man Tiananmen Square elevate make someone a Hero? (Wiki those, it's important!)
It's our response to a situation that determines what we are, what makes us tick. How does a hero tick? How do they act? What are their motives? In the scope of Evoke, I believe a hero is a leader, a positive force, for general good. They look for the smart solution, the bold plan or perhaps the path less travelled. They are influential, either person to person, locally or internationally. They are bold, believe in what it is they are doing, seeking the impossible and pursuing excellence. We are looking for more then an accidental hero, but a hero there by their own design.
For myself Richard Branson fits this mould. He's not the only one, but to choose one person I like the successful capitalist background with a heart for being a force for positive change. Daring to not only see what could be done, but seeks to conquer the challenge, his actions include world record attempts, hunger strikes and spaceship one. I could go on but his wiki page does it better.
