Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

A continuation of this conversation. Coming
a bit late to the conversation, but I had some of thoughts:

(1) My understanding is that ultimately winning this game -- earning an award or a trip to the DC summit or a funding award for your project -- does not necessarily require being at the top
of the leader boards. I am quite certain
that we will have to submit a specific EVOKATION at the close of the 10 weeks
in order to compete for those awards -- and while the "judges" may
take point totals under consideration -- it will be easy to separate the wheat
from the chaff no matter what the totals are.

(2) I have in fact been wrestling with this tension from the beginning, since I have been in the top 12 or so since the very start and I am very aware that my
life circ**stances are such that I cannot run off and dig wells in Africa at
the close of the game. So, personally, I
am unlikely to develop an EVOKATION that will have a immediate impact on the
poorest billion. From where I sit in
Virginia, you know?

(3) In light of these facts, I have made it my mission to encourage, mentor, highlight, promote those ideas and agents who have the possibility of creating
an EVOKATION “on the ground” so to speak.
I have been trying to use whatever “power" the leader board gives my for "good.” And trying to spread that power and visibility around. There is no doubt that being toward the top
of the leader board gives one more visibility.
I am trying to use that visibility in service to what we’re all about
here.

(4) On a personal note. I keep my own private score in my head that is much lower than my leaderboard score. In my head, I subtract the +100 courage I won
from Alchemy almost immediately, and I subtract the +20 or so that would come
from giving myself one pt per submission.
It’s a matter of personal integrity for me that even subtracting those
numbers, I still would be scoring high.
It lets me feel a sense of integrity and rightness about the game. It seems to show me that one some level, the
points do reflect that other agents are finding value in what I am offering.

(5) Lastly, because of the tension I perceive between my success in the game and the role I really feel I can offer – I have twice e-mailed EVOKE asking them to
make me an official moderator – a point giver – instead of a competitor. I
think it’s clear the game would benefit from more of them. I have never received a reply. ::shrug::

Anyway, that's my 2 cents…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
