The Florida Food Security Team
is a collection of agencies, both governmental and private, working in tandem to reduce overall hunger in the Florida region. By networking a number of groups with different resources, specialties and scope, then simplifying and eliminating wasteful bureaucracy where needed, efficient action levels were achieved.
Personal favorite highlight is a program by the Department of Elder Affairs providing $64 dollar coupons to the elderly to purchase local fruits and veggies from participating Farmer's Markets. Promotes nutrition among the elderly and supports local produce farmers at the same time.
