After having reached the embassy, being taken by angry mob got dehydrated and I finally entered the large wrought iron gates. I felt slightly dizzy as I looked in all directions in search of someone who recognized me. I repeated this two more times. Nothing. I seemed to be invisible to this big set of workmen insatiable even though exhausted. Suddenly, coming from the east wing, I heard my name being yelled, "Ms. Mariana! Thank god you heard our call, it is urgent. Follow me, please...”. I recognized some details of his face but I couldn’t recall from where; and I noticed the number 174 on top of the stairs as they went up to the roof. A helicopter was waiting for us. Although I was very tired, I remembered some random facts of my life in Tokyo as I entered the helicopter and greeted those who I foresaw as my “enemies”. In one of my last winks I noticed another face I recognized, with his droopy mustache resourceful he chats happily about his cheeks and a crooked nose. I couldn’t remember his while the smoke from the city was forming a mist that seemed to tell me goodbye...
I ended up landing in Botswana several hours flying. When I touched the ground with my feet in the morning I was greeted by Ico’s family, which I had been introduced to years before when I did volunteer work, back when he was still a tender young age of 14 and having evolved very suddenly. I was told I had a dinner with traditional cuisine that would make me see the major developments of what was now a continent precious to mankind. Ico, helpful as always, began by explaining to me the way through the innovations brought to them and also by older methods, such as crop rotation that was essential for sustainable agriculture of this rich continent, had been introduced and evolved, making Botswana evolved too. After having rested a few hours and gotten prepared, a small cozy yellow jeep that looked like coming generations of ancestors awaited me, and I was confident at my fingertips when I opened the door. We stopped. A cheerful smile started growing on Ico’s face as he looked at me and how I was amazed with the multitude of crops grown right outside our front, surmounted by a big house, pretty small compared to the thousands of acres that surrounded us, so small that the jeep looked like a simple toy to my eyes. I stumbled down to the Jeep and thought that I never had to get used to sandals and lowered me to feel the soil. Only by touch I could feel how the ground was nurtured, small mineral seem to dance in my hand and I began to sketch a simple smile. "I do not know if you recall a few years ago in Lisbon, from your brief encounter with the specialist in agriculture and innovation, Dr. Sirxlam", and that's when I realized who I had fixed on the helicopter. I was petrified with food as they sat on wicker front of the large wooden table. The wh*** table looked resplendent in exotic colors forming contrasts and captivating my senses, putting me alert. Someone landed me a dish ahead and muttered something which I didn’t understood due to the attention given to the dish. No idea what had the plate, but at the first bite I felt a rotation of flavors that swayed in my tong. It was bittersweet and should be of the best dishes I have ever had experienced. I smiled as I nodded my head to congratulate all of those who were present.
