IMAGINE 7 - BANGALORE OF THE FUTURE URBAN AND RESILIENT

Bagalore grew rapidly because of IT but something amazing happened. The people realized it was going nowhere, getting too unwieldy , and disease if it struck as a pandemic could destroy most of them.

They decided to start from scratch - planning and building from 2010. Huge sections of land were constantly cleared of its old buildings- the people put up in elemental houses meanwhile - and they built beautiful resilient structures there based on Roger Dean's paintings like the one above and in his Willow Water project.

We brought in Roger Dean to work on our ecocity.

We also called in Vinay Gupta. http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/urgent-evoke-mission-7-ab...

And he's done a good job. As did Roger.

We have open spaces, gardens, parks and water bodies and playgrounds and hives and curvilinear towers that light up from inside powered by John Robb's resilient technologies.

We like the changes and we're glad we did something radical, not wait for a disaster but start straight off.

Now we have no slums, the towers have ensured less overcrowding and the houses close to the ground and the light fabric used in building the towers ensure earthquakes can't damage the buildings - there's playgrounds, parks and gardens for food and water bodies clearly marked off, rainwater is harvested, grey water recycled, waste is managed much better, the roads are wider and again hived, there is more food, more energy women have a better role in society etc...

IT's better.

The architecture is especially beautiful.

wow - it looks awesome kevin - thanks thats a superb link - it looks better for new cities though - to redo an old city is tough i think - tougher
sabeer was the guy who started hotmail -guess you know that - i put the asia cover on just for gloss what im really interested in is the small villages roger is designing for england - small projects - it has awesome potential -if you go to my eco city link and also read his latest itnerview on his site you'll get what i mean

@Kevin, @Koshy, yes--the nanocities projects (as envisioned) would keep 50% of utilized land as open/aerable/green space--and much of Bangalore is already covered by nonpermeable and semipermeable surfaces; as you note, koshy--the ecocity link has great potential as well. There are so many risks with the population densities of the megacities. Small villages with durable interconnections might be a very good solution. Great post and comments... thanks

Shame about all the displaced slum dwellers. +1 creepy for that picture of the pyramid with the eyes! How are those next-gen solar panels coming on?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
