I would gather a crisis reaction team combining the following persons:
- Doctors specialising in flu-type viruses: Their job would be to find a cure for the disease as quickly as possible.
- Teachers to inform their students and hand out medical equipment.
- Pharmacy owners to create a robust and efficient medicine supply network
- Facebook employees to spread the news on every single Facebook profile in the relevant country
- Internet:
In the internet, there are a lot of helpful tips on how to treat influenza at home. The people, who are experts in internet researching, could gather up these tips and make their information available online.
- TV and Radio station employees to inform the people with helpful information
- Owners of local security services to provide the personnel neede to protect stores and pharmacies in the event of riots.
- Dark Sites:
An emergency dark site is a web site that sits, ready, but not seen, until activated.
It contains crucial information to help individuals thrive and survive during even the worst crises.
For a dark site to really be effective, it has to be prepared BEFORE crisis hits.
-Hosptal:
I would make a temporary hospital to put the sick people in quarantine so others don't get diseased. They would provide care to the ill people while making sure the healthy people don't get sick.
- Forum search:
People with computer science skills could provide a forum for collaboration in such situations. There might be people, who are no longer able to help themselves or their family members, so they could ask for help via the internet (forum). Furthermore talking to other people would reduce the fear and make them confident to get through this together
