Slowly but safely, the traces of the talibans have vanished, though the memories of the violences remained.
The city of Balkh, in the North of Afghanistan, has made a big move forward in the last decade. The small city has became more important thanks to its hand made clothes and carpet shops. Most of them are handled by women who create the clothes and carpet they sells. These shops handlers have also learned selling, and accountability and they earn their money for themselves, what is a huge step for these women independency toward their husbands.
But these economical progresses also served men, as the global unemployement rate in the area decreased a lot.
Aside these traditionnal shops, several modern structures have open : a cybercafe, a website creator company (helping local merchants to sell their goods internationally) as well as several hotels. International companies also invested in water facilities to help both citizen to get clear water and agriculture to irrigate, in exchange of oil prospection contract.
The local University attracts more and more students from all the country, thanks to its top quality cla****. A large part of the teacher are returning Afghan migrants, but a new generation of teacher who followed the class at the University should arrive soon. The university accepts both male and female students.
The illiteracy has deeply decreased, and most of the children before 13 are now studying, thanks to international fundings helping families of children going to school.
For the first time since the function exists, the delegate of the province is a woman, who does her best improving everyday life of her citizens. She also works on women rights, because there are still a lot of things to do on that subject.
