2020 - ten years from now - is going to be a big year for me. Of this I have no doubt.
In reality, I will have already fulfilled two of the "four careers" that people our age are supposed to have by the time we reach 50. I mean, who hasn't heard that? Journalism calls, and it speaks in many tongues. This is going to be my first job, I think, working as a reporter for a paper in America or England, or even perhaps in Italy - wouldn't that be cool?
My second job, I reckon, is going to be a second-language teacher - be it Xhosa over here, English in KwaZulu-Natal (one of our provinces, for all you non-South Africans) or Italy, or even something awesome, like Hebrew, wherever that may be.
I am looking forward to the prospect of being something of a world leader. Certainly not in anything public, like world politics or something like that, but in something quiet yet essential - our Teacher-in-Charge of the Global Issues Network at school went to Brazil recently for a conference on what she does. That is something I'd like to do.
All of these things are very important to people of many ages beyond mine, as they constitute your life - and so they will be ten years from now - some things are just eternal like that. Whatever it is that I am going to do, I plan on enjoying it - because nothing is worth it unless you're having a ball.
