A crash course in changing the world.
Where do I see myself in 10 years time? The answer is easy, right here, in Johannesburg, South Africa, doing what I love best- using the skills, tools and inofrmation I have gathered from the years at my research degree to implement, design and optimize solutions to the current energy crisis that our country is facing.
I am currently working on utilizing blended coal and biomass as a means for reducing carbon emissions and increasing combustion energy yield and so far the results have been amazing. With our country going through an energy crisis, our government has lacked the vision to foresee the longterm growth of not only our energy economy, but the huge growth rate of our developing energy demand, which our current national energy supplier can't cope with. Our govenrment's solution is to simply hike energy tariffs, so that the public can fund the construction of new power plants, instead of looking at ways of integrating renewable and other energy-producing technologies into our grid.
As a social innovator, it is my job to investigate, and implement these kinds of technologies that will prevent SA from reverting to a dark age.
Again, I have included an article from a local paper that outlines my sentiments about this problem.
