It is 2020. I am nearly 40 and over the last decade I've managed to bring several of the entrepreneurial ventures in my head to reality and have attained the only thing that capitalism is good for; freedom. Not the sort of freedom that many tend to take for granted, but freedom from the daily grind and from the frustration that comes from working to make money for the wealthy. I myself am not wealthy. I have no wish to be. Money is not an end, but a means. I've attained true financial independence.
And I've built a tower.
This is no skyscraper, no place of business. It is located in a place of great beauty, somewhere near water. The tower is a work of art and it is my home.
It is as remote, off the grid, and self-sustaining as I can make it. I have a family, perhaps an unorthodox one. There is room here for the people I love and they are always welcome. I am probably considered a bit of an eccentric.
From my tower I am involved in Conduit, an organization that focuses on bringing classrooms across the world together through technology and fostering international understanding.
Ironically, I am the realist in the organization.
I get the call. I have freedom and stability. I've assisted with creating a worldwide network of teachers and professors, students and scholars. I'm still young and I have a tower.
"Everyone thought I was joking."
