I'm eating food grown locally ..largely by people in my community...seasonal produce because it tastes better and doesnt have to be shipped miles
largely vegetarian because cattle consume so many resources and because I can no longer justify eating meat on humane grounds...i currently eat meat but cannot justify doing so (i am aware that i eat meat out of laziness ,cowardice and greed beacause it tastes good.)
Having taken the decision to only eat meat I have slaughtered myself my meat consumption has declined to the point where I am now vegetarian...i now equate meat eating with suffering in a direct way.
food has become a pleasure because I am actively involved in growing it...i feel in control of my life and my health....
variety of food is important...not just to make eating more interesting ..but also to avoid the pitfalls of monoculture....i reccomend everyone reads the book or watches the film "the botany of desire"
we grow plants not just for food but also for medicine ...when a plant can do a more effective job than its pharmeceutical equivalent we use it...
actively involved in preserving the variety of plant life with our own seed bank.....
using technology where appropriate to grow foods that used to be imported...
our high altitude wind turbine /geothermal power provides enough power to grow tropical plants indoors hydroponically even in winter and because they are not picked to be transported thousands of miles we eat
things ripe and fresh...
