A crash course in changing the world.
Imagine3 - torchlight celebration
It is independents day! Yes, our community is celebrating its independence from the grid. It is the first anniversary of our
independence and we are celebrating by hosting a neighborhood block party by
torchlight (all lights are being turned out in celebration). This is going to be one fabulous
celebration.
Our neighborhood effort started with three houses. From these seeds it spread. As one of the owners of the original three houses – I knew very little about going “off grid.” However, in 2010 we used websites like How Living Off
the Grid Works to get started. We
started with solar power because of the 2010 State (Colorado) rebate programs (see
this historical site). And over the years we kept making
progress. Next was gas, water, and
telephone – until the year 2017. In 2017
the three original houses were completely off gird and in 2019 our entire
neighborhood had accomplished the same.
We are looking forward to tonight’s celebration. We are very proud of our work.

James-- off-grid technology is great! An even better goal, in my opinion, is to integrate local solar, wind and bioenergy (such as natural gas generated by waste treatment) into a smart grid. That way you can do more than just reduce your own energy bill to zero-- you can get a check in the mail each month for selling your surplus to other people.

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. public servants
The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
