I am a mother, a wife, an activist, a student of life.
My meals are not just about the food, but about the experience. Every meal is shared with loved ones, eating on-the-go is no longer vogue - meals are a time to share food, thoughts, ideas, questions, and more. In the past ten years improvements to the meat production industry worldwide has meant less of a burden on our environmental systems, but I and my family have remained vegetarian. The food we eat isn't that different from what we knew in 2010; instead of trying innovate food varieties people the world over have learnt that nature does it best when we let it.
The past 10 years has seen a shift back-to-basics, with blossoming urban/vertical gardens I no longer buy my vegetables from the grocery store instead growing at home. We make gardening a family activity and a community effort in our neighborhood. As much as 80% of our food is sourced within our city limits, all within biking proximity. With different neighborhoods taking on different food-stuff cultivation, cities don't feel so cold and distancing.
The old adage "It's take a village to raise a child" has been turned on it's head and is now
"It takes a sustainable city to raise healthy citizens".
